Kenneth H. Merten, new Special Coordinator for Haiti

Merten, according to a note from the US Embassy in Port-au-Prince, has served as Special Coordinator for Haiti and as Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Affairs in charge of the Western Hemisphere since mid-August 2015 . He was ambassador twice, most recently US ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, from 2012 to August 2015, and the US ambassador to Haiti from 2009 to July 2012. He was also Deputy Executive Secretary of the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and previously Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Having been the US ambass
