Ile-a-Vache is not really exposed to natural hazards

On January 15, 2015, the Haitian Center for Environmental Research and Development (CHRAD in French) presented the findings of a study on the coastal vulnerability of Ile-a-Vache and Les Cayes in terms of hurricane and tsunami risks. This study was held within the integrated development project of Ile-a-Vache with Haitian and foreign experts. Three important aspects were taken into account in the study. Officials believe that the environmental significance can be overlooked as part of the project.
