Five years later, the region of Les Palmes has rebounded

The region of Les Palmes which is made up by the municipalities of Gressier, Leogane, Grand-Goave and Petit-Goave was severely affected by the earthquake. Like in Port-au-Prince, private homes, public buildings, and shopping centers collapsed in these municipalities. Five years later, a return visit shows that efforts have been made. Life has returned to normal in these areas. This progress has revitalized the citizens.

In Leogane, the reconstructed lycée Anacaona was built with the help of the Spanish Red Cross and reopened on December 5th. Carmelien Souverain, Director of the school, was satisfied with the reconstructed building. The school it has 26 classrooms, a computer lab, an experimental science laboratory, a library, and playgrounds, among other things. At the entrance of the city is the Marie-Claire Heureuse library.
