Japan renews its commitment to Haiti

On Thursday December 4th, Katsuyoshi Tamura, Japan's Ambassador to Haiti, held a reception in Port-au-Prince to mark the 81st birthday of Emperor Akihito. llIn his speech for the occasion, the diplomat emphasized the traditional friendly relationship between the two peoples. He said the friendship between the two countries began with the creation of the Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in Kobe, Japan in 1931 and by the installation of the Honorary Consul of Japan in Port-au-Prince in 1935.
