Agricultural development bank sprouting

A discussion meeting was held on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at the conference room of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH in French) at Laboule 12 to review a study on agricultural credit . During the meeting, the commission set up by the government met with key financial stakeholders in the project to create an agricultural development bank. On the sidelines of the meeting, officials told reporters and members of the financial sector about the importance of such a company to the recovery of agricultural production in the country.

llInvestment remains the biggest challenge facing the country's agricultural production. According to Fritz Duroseau, BRH representative to the commission, it receives less than 1% of the portfolio of credit compared to trade and import which receives 68%. Today, agriculture accounts for 25% of GDP. This is a great leap backwards compared to 45% in 1970. Private investment in the sector will have only positive effects, and everything depends on a well-structured plan that sets aside all disparate initiatives. This is the objective of the Nation
