Southeast: two health centers opened

On Monday, September 15th, the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) and the First Lady of the Republic, Sophia Martelly, inaugurated two health centers in the Southeast Department (Seguin and Gaillard) in the presence of representatives of Canadian and Haitian Red Cross, health professionals and local authorities. These health facilities were built and equipped by the Haitian Red Cross with funding from the Canadian Red Cross (CRC).

Access to health care is one of the many challenges facing the people of Seguin and Gaillard, two isolated areas, located respectively approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes from the city of Jacmel. Because of the state of the rocky road and travel time, many people from both localities often die en route to the hospital according to Nessonne Délissaint, CASEC of Marigot.
