Developing a policy for sustainable waste management

Waste in Haiti is usually left abandoned on the streets, in ravines or other places outside the home. Special attention must be paid not only to protect the environment, but also to improve the quality of life of individuals. Prevention, response, and transformation are all aspects of a good waste management policy.

In a city like Port-au-Prince, where expansion occurs quickly with limited household resources, it is urgent to quickly improve techniques for waste collection.
